John's father, Aubrey Early, was a farmer and a keen and skilled cabinet maker, who used only hand tools.  It was through him that John learned the ropes of his trade.  John focused on cabinet making until 1987, when his love for wood, and a desire to show it off in the best possible way, steered him towards the more creative art of turning. 
He has subsequently spent many years experimenting with numerous types of wood and different turning techniques to achieve the quality which now holds his name in high regard.  John has also, over the years, passed his knowledge on to his son Andrew who, after completing his diploma in architectural draughting, joined his father.
